GLAM is a three week summer programme that will be held from Monday July 17th to Friday August 4th, 2017. The programme is specifically designed for young girls from the ages 11 - 17 to encourage team building, reinforce the importance of education and provide opportunities and experiences for girls in the island of Grenada. The programme will be held at the St. Patrick’s R.C School. The programme consists of co-curricular activities that are not typically experienced in our existing school system. Co-curricular activities facilitate in the development of mind and personality such as intellectual development, emotional development, social development, and moral development. Co-curricular activities have proven to be important for achieving all-round development in children and adolescents. At the end of the programme all girls are expected to achieve the desired learning outcomes from those activities which will allow them to become better equipped for their future.
Academic Goals & Career Planning
GLAM girls will be able to set goals for their academic and career aspirations while also being introduced to a wide range of career opportunities available.
Community Engagement
GLAM girls will have a greater appreciation for getting involved within the community to assist with problem solving within the community.
Community Service
GLAM girls will understand the importance of protecting and preserving the physical environment as well as serving others within the community.
Conflict Resolution
GLAM girls will be better equipped at conflict management; having healthy discussions about misunderstandings and finding an amicable solution to the problem.
Cultural Engagement
GLAM girls will explore Grenada’s cultural heritage, history and the role it plays in our society. They will also have a better understanding of the various cultures within the tri-island state.
Health & Wellness
GLAM girls will have an understanding about basic health care practices for adolescents and the importance of physical and psychological well being.
Reflective Journals
GLAM girls will understand the importance of reflecting on learning experiences to assist with self-awareness and increased motivation for achieving their goals.
Team Building
GLAM girls will have an appreciation for working effectively in teams, adequately utilizing each other’s strengths to produce the desired outcome.
